About the Show

From Barcelona, Spain comes a profound and intimate show by Catalan artist Xavier Bobés. Things Easily Forgotten is a sensory journey for just five audience members at a time. Created in response to his mother’s loss of key memories, the show uses the history of Spain under Franco’s dictatorship as a lens into personal loss and transformation.

Gather around a small table, in an intimate salon setting, for a powerful sequence of close-up sights and sounds, objects and photos, invoking old memories and inventing new ones. Like a magician, or medium at a séance, the performer manipulates both past and future.

Xavier asks, “If you could choose just one photo from your life, which one would you choose?”

Reviews and Awards

““Few artists have the ability to conjure visual imagery in such a rich and powerful way as Xavi Bobés. His unique aesthetic universe often provokes genuine astonishment.”

— Joaquim Armengol. Proscenium & Recomana magazine, 04/07/2015

It is difficult to define this type of show. Not only because to talk about it is to reveal what’s at the heart of it, but also because it can’t be easily labeled.” –Toni Rumbau, Putxinelli magazine, 03/07/2015

It’s a transporting experience, one that involves all the senses: music crackles from scratched vinyl, sherry sticks to your tastebuds, the smoke from birthday candles gets up your nose… It’s like scoffing madeleine after madeleine after madeleine – but conjuring someone else’s memories. It’s a welcome reminder that history is made of everyday lives, not just momentous events.” – Matt Trueman, WhatsOnStage.com, 1/22/2016

Best Theatre Show in New Tendencies, Barcelona Critics Award, 2015

Best Show in Other Disciplines, Butaca Theater Awards of Catalonia, 2016

First Prize, BE Festival of Birmingham, 2016

FAQs and FYIs

Q: The postcard says something about a ticket lottery. Is that still correct?

A: No. Due to legalities around lotteries in Massachusetts, we have changed our plans since printing our postcards and there will be no lottery.

Q: Will I have a better chance of getting a ticket if I choose a higher price or make a donation?

A: No, please choose the price that best reflects your financial situation. The price you choose or your status as a donor or non-donor won’t have any impact on whether you are able to secure one of the limited tickets.
