Learn all about the science, concepts, and cultural context behind regional freestyle dance forms throughout the United States!
Meet dance instructors from Boston’s own freestyle dance company, StiggityStackz, and hear about the connection between freestyle dance and programming/training AI as it relates to the process of dance, as well as its cultural connections. Then, the stage is yours as you join them for five different mini-workshops and demonstrations (30 minutes each). Stay for the entire time or feel free to pop in and out!
You’ll gain an understanding of basic fundamentals that relate to each teacher’s style as well as participate in fun exercises that focus on how each teacher finds pathways that assist them in “freestyling” improvising.
Participating instructors and dance style:
Ki-nen, Litefeet dance (NYC)
Brutal, Krump dance (LA)
Janiah, Contemporary and Hip Hop (from a Chicago perspective)
Darryl Keith, Beat ya Feet (Washington, DC)
Wizdom, Jersey Club (NJ)
The event culminates with the preliminaries for this year’s Stackin’ Stylez freestyle dance competition. (Blue Wing, Lower Level)
StiggityStackz, Building Boston’s Freestyle Culture Worldwide.
