Although New England isn’t Napa Valley or the Rhone Valley of France, it still has some pretty spectacular places to enjoy a bottle of vino. In fact, we have several of the nation’s best wineries and vineyards, all within 2 hours from Boston. Whether you prefer red, white, or rosé, these wineries have it all— plus incredible dining options to pair with your choice. You know what they say… great minds drink alike.

Wineries ranked by distance from Downtown Boston.

1) Boston Winery

Where: Boston, MA | 6.9 miles from Downtown

Info: We bet you didn’t know there was a winery right in Boston. Boston Winery is one of Dorchester’s best-kept secrets. Their award-winning wines are perfect for sommeliers and casual wine-drinkers alike. During their one-hour wine tasting, you can enjoy five vino samples ranging from Pinot to Sauvignon Blanc, either in the inside Winery or outside. Make a reservation in advance and order pizza with your tasting! They also offer a make-your-own wine experience and events dedicated to pairing their best bottles with Italian dishes.

2) Marzae Winery

Where: Acton, MA | 25.5 miles from Downtown

Info: Launched in August 2023, this Massachusetts winery specializes in natural wines crafted from locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, using a creative yet hands-off approach. You can find them at SoWa Open Market from May to October, Sundays from 11am to 4pm, and they’ll soon be opening a new space in Cambridge.

3) Mill River Winery

Where: Rowley, MA | 30.4 miles from Downtown

Info: Mill River Winery is one of our favorites, because it’s a 100% woman-owned business. Donna Martin, the owner and winemaker, is a PhD. chemist who mastered making some pretty spectacular concoctions. You can find the winery near the marshes of Plum Island— in fact, one of their labels features a red-winged blackbird, one of the many birds that flock to the wildlife preserves nearby. Stop by for a tour, tasting flight, and some small bites.

4) Broken Creek Vineyard

Where: Shrewsbury, MA | 37.6 miles from Downtown

Info: At Broken Creek Vineyard, you can participate in the winemaking experience firsthand. Discover the secrets of grape growing, harvest the fruits, and watch winemakers destem and crush grapes in real time. These unique harvest events occur on select September weekends, so make sure to reserve a spot in advance. If you miss these events, you can still stop by during their hours to sip wines on the estate and munch on cheese boards from CharCUTErie Woo.

5) Plymouth Bay Winery

Where: Plymouth, MA | 40 miles from Downtown

Info: Plymouth Bay Winery is a hidden gem with views of the shining bay waters. Each blend comes from locally-grown fruits and native berries, and the spectacular flavors include choices like Pilgrims’ Harvest, a cranberry table wine aged for six months in an apple brandy barrel. Don’t miss out on a tasting at this family-owned treasure.

6) Nashoba Valley Winery

Where: Bolton, MA | 44.1 miles from Downtown

Info: Nashoba Valley Winery is known for its family-owned, local feel. It boasts a beautiful array of over 30 wines, including cherry, blackberry and fruit flavored wines. Plus, wine isn’t the only liquor you can sample— there’s a distillery and brewery on the grounds, too. When you’re hungry, make sure to dine either outside at the exquisite Vintner's Knoll or at the top-rated J’s Restaurant.

7) Zorvino Vineyards

Where: Sandown, NH | 45.4 miles from Downtown

Info: Zorvino Vineyards is a sight to behold. With a sunny patio, rolling vineyards, and tranquil pond, there’s no better place to have a glass (or two). Plus, there’s over 40 different wines to choose from! Before you leave, make sure to stop by the bistro to grab lunch or challenging a friend to a game of bocce ball.

8) Westport River Vineyard & Winery

Where: Westport, MA | 62.3 miles from Downtown

Info: Westport River Vineyards stretches over 80 acres, making it the largest vineyard in New England. It’s also famous for its incredible wines, which have won awards in nationwide competitions. Sample their Farmers Fizz Sec, a beautiful combination of riesling and bubbles from chardonnay grapes.

9) Agronomy Farm Vineyard

Where: Oakham, MA | 65.2 miles from Downtown

Info: Agronomy is a fancy word for “the science and technology of producing and using plants for food.” There’s an amazing vineyard in Oakham that’s mastered this science. Check out Agronomy Farm Vineyard for a spectacular tasting flight, delicious snacks, and live music. And if you’re craving something sweet, look no further– they’re also a maple syrup farm.

10) Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyards

Where: Little Compton, RI | 66.5 miles from Downtown

Info: International and award-winning are two adjectives often used to describe wines from Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyards. The grapes grow on 150 acres of sea-swept grounds near Rhode Island’s Atlantic Coast. Check out their superb wine tastings to sample their world-renown white, red, rosé and even dessert wines!

11) Cape Cod Winery

Where: Falmouth, MA | 71.3 miles from Downtown

Info: Cape Cod is the ideal place to vacation, with its serene beaches and quaint towns. Now, you can take your vacation a step further by visiting the charming winery in Falmouth. At this marine-inspired spot, a tent rests on seashells and you can taste the salty breeze from the ocean. Make sure to check out the live music, seafood food trucks, and rosé mermaid water for a wonderful time.

12) Hardwick Winery

Where: Hardwick, MA | 86.4 miles from Downtown

Info: Hardwick Winery emerged from the remains of an abandoned mansion. After years of deterioration, the 200-year-old Giles E. Warner Mansion was renovated and turned into one of Massachusetts’ most beloved wineries. The house and its 150 acres are now used to make quintessential New England wines, like the Baystate Blueberry. Make sure to check out the live music, which plays year round, and the Fall Craft and Food Festival.

13) Glendale Ridge Vineyard

Where: Southampton, MA | 104.7 miles from Downtown

Info: At Glendale Ridge Vineyard, they say that “every bottle tells a story.” We couldn’t agree more. This gorgeous vineyard is nestled in the heart of Western Massachusetts on acres of rolling fields. You can grab a bottle and picnic outside, with beautiful views of both Mount Tom and the Seven Sisters range.

14) Truro Vineyards

Where: Truro, MA | 108.4 miles from Downtown

Info: Another Cape Cod favorite is Truro Vineyards. This beautiful winery is nestled near sweeping sand dunes and miles of pristine beaches. It’s family-owned and operated, and it’s a perfect retreat to relax and unwind. For lunch, stop by Blackfish Restaurant’s Crush Pad Food Truck or grab some cheese and wine from the gift shop for a picnic on the lawn. You can also enjoy a wine tasting, take a free guided tour (which stops by their famous barrel room) and learn all about maritime grape growing.
