Join us in welcoming the artists and celebrating the inauguration of Spirits: Tsherin Sherpa with Robert Beer with art making, pop-up talks in the galleries and a film screening. Sheri Brenner’s short documentary Above and Below (2022) tells the story of Tsherin Sherpa’s path from young Buddhist painter to global artist over the course of 19 years. Finally, join us for a drop-in art activity in our Create Space Studios inspired by the work of Robert Beer.

The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, moderated by Mead Art Museum Director and former PEM curator of South Asian Art Siddhartha V. Shah.
Drop-In Art Making: Mixed Media Creations With Images from Robert Beer’s Drawings

Learn about Tibetan Buddhist symbols and motifs by drawing your own or trying a page from Robert Beer’s Buddhist Art Coloring Book: Buddhas, Deities, and Enlightened Masters from the Tibetan Tradition. Then, weave your creations into a collage with images from pop culture.
