Join this special chocolate tour highlighting only local businesses in Boston's Back Bay!
Boston was home to the first chocolate factory in North America, the Baker's Chocolate Factory in Dorchester, and since that time has maintained a strong history of love for chocolate. Whether it was the establishment of drinking chocolate houses in the newly formed country, or creating some legendary chocolate desserts, Massachusetts is the setting of many iconic moments in chocolate history.
If we travelled through time and held this popular Boston neighborhood tour during the early 1800s, we would have needed a boat. That’s because the Back Bay neighborhood is so-named because for a time in our city’s history, it actually was a bay! Thankfully, we live in modern times where the land is buildable and perfectly suited for chocolate stores and bake shops.
This 2.5 hour walking tour will tantalize your tastebuds with an assortment of treats from around the Back Bay. Every tour guest will get treated to a variety of different chocolate treats from local businesses, as well as a goodie bag filled with promotional items, room for leftovers, and perhaps even a few surprises!
Join us on this special chocolate tour of Boston’s Back Bay and learn a bit about the history of chocolate as it pertains to the city, while trying lots of yummy treats along the way made by local businesses. This specially scheduled Back Bay tour is a collaboration between Cocoa Beantown and SBN's Boston Local Food Program for their Eat Local Always Fall celebrations.
