From thumbnail drawings to final work, students will go through the step-by-step process of creating an illustration in response to an article or short story.

In this class, students will review every stage of the illustration process, from brainstorming and sketching initial ideas to group critiques and finished artwork.

Come practice your illustration skills and leave with new inspiration and approaches to creating imagery from text!

Session 1: Read and brainstorm from text, workshop sketchbook images

Session 2: Class discussions and work on final Illustrations

Materials List (bring to first class)

Instructor's note: I would prefer attendees to work in whatever materials they are most comfortable with if they already regularly make art, but I'll list here my default recommendation:

Small-Medium sketchbook for process work

18” x 24” Mixed Media paper for final works

Pack of a range of watercolors
