Before there was the podcast and the smartphone, there was the cassette tape and the Walkman — two devices that although not considered much today, were revolutionary. They were recordable, rewritable, spliceable, compact, mobile. For the first time they allowed you to move through the world and listen to a voice speaking only to you. The cassette tape brought us together, pulled us apart and forever changed how we say those three simple words, ‘I love you.’
“Radiolab,” the award-winning podcast and radio show from WNYC Studios and senior producer Simon Adler present a live multimedia event based on its Mixtape series exploring self-help, the power of these phrases, the cassette tapes that carried them, and the ideas embedded within. Featuring silent disco headsets, live music from composer Alexander Overington and “Radiolab’s” iconic sound design is an experiment that you become part of.
