Mandorla Music and Cedar Grove Cemetery present an evening of live jazz at Gilman Chapel featuring internationally acclaimed trumpet player Jason Palmer.
He is one of the most in demand jazz musicians of his generation, and has performed with Roy Haynes, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Smith, Wynton Marsalis, The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ravi Coltrane, Mark Turner, Jeff Ballard, Lee Konitz, Phil Woods, Common, Roy Hargrove and Lewis Nash. Palmer lead the weekend house band at the legendary jazz club Wally's for twenty years, but his Boston appearances are rare these days.
He'll be joined by a stellar quartet made up of some of Boston's finest - Gregory Groover Jr. on tenor saxophone, Max Ridley on bass and Lee Fish on drums.
$15 in advance, $20 at the door. $10 for college students and free for under 18. Gilman Chapel is just inside the entrance to Cedar Grove Cemetery, a short walk from the Cedar Grove stop on the Mattapan Trolley, which runs from Ashmont/Peabody Square station to Mattapan Square.
