Austrian expressionist Egon Schiele developed a novel approach of blending figuration and abstraction in his landscapes. Curatorial fellow Peter Murphy will highlight two of Schiele’s works, looking at them through the lens of gender and World War I: the 1910 watercolor Sleeping Figure with Blanket and the 1917 painting Town Among Greenery (The Old City III), which is on loan from the Neue Galerie New York.

Led by:

Peter Murphy, Stefan Engelhorn Curatorial Fellow in the Busch-Reisinger Museum, Division of Modern and Contemporary Art

Please check in with museum staff at the Visitor Services desk in the Calderwood Courtyard to request to join the gallery talk. Talks are limited to 18 people and are available on a first-come, first-served basis; no registration is required.

The Harvard Art Museums are now offering free admission every day, Tuesday through Sunday. Please see the museum visit page to learn about our general policies for visiting the museums.
