How does our dharma practice - mindful attention to our bodies and minds in the Now - hold the potential to train us for engaging the crisis our planet is facing?

Join others in the community for a vegetarian potluck, video and discussion.

We will watch a video teaching by Thanissara on how to awaken from our illusion of separateness from the web of consciousness, and how to make space for difficult emotions, such as fear, grief, and rage. She teaches brilliantly on how to investigate the narratives that support these emotions and how they might be loosened, meeting our habitual defensive responses not only with kindness but with clarity, courage, and determination.

Thanissara embodies the integration of the contemplative with the activist. Trained in the Ajahn Chah Forest Tradition, she was a monastic for 12 years. As a member of the Spirit Rock Teacher Council, Thanissara co-founded Sacred Mountain Sangha based in California. She has an MA in Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy from the UK, and is author of several books, including Time to Stand Up: An Engaged Buddhist Manifesto for Our Earth — The Buddha’s Life and Message through Feminine Eyes.

(This video teaching is part of One Earth Sangha’s Ecosattva Training)

Facilitated by Dylan Khanal and Mary Lang.
