The opening concert of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra's 2024-25 season, continuing its tradition of presenting thrilling performances of orchestral masterpieces and bringing exciting soloists to Boston audiences. The concert can also be live streamed for free.
The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra's 46th season opens triumphantly with Brahms's only violin concerto, featuring former Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster Guy Braunstein (who also opened last year's season with his memorable rendition of Elgar's Violin Concerto followed by an encore featuring his interpretation of The Beatles's "Blackbird," inspired by the death of George Floyd).
The concert concludes with Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, a brilliant orchestral showcase commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Serge Koussevitzky, who would have been 150 this year.
