The Umbrella Arts Center is honored to host an afternoon of Panel Discussion, Slides, and Conversation with Isezaki Koichiro, Jeff Shapiro and Tim Rowan about their work and careers. We will be examining the intersections of these artists’ work and the tradition of Bizen pottery through their friendships, collaborations, and varied apprenticeships.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Judith Schwartz, writer, curator and Professor Emeritus of Art History at NYU. This discussion will culminate with a visit to Lucy Lacoste Gallery for the concurrent Bizen Revisited show (on view November 5 – December 3, 2022).
This event is part of The Umbrella’s new expanded series of Fall Ceramics Studio workshops and Artist Talks also featuring Director of the Harvard Ceramics Program, Kathy King; 2022-2023 Umbrella Artist in Residence Ponnapa Prakkamakul; and Jessica Straus, juror for the upcoming gallery exhibition, “Lost and Found”.
